sea creature

Turtles have hard shells

Under the shell, there is the heart, lungs and soft body

Red-eared turtles live longer

They live around 10-15 years

Living a long life

Each turtle has flippers to swim

We have been learning about Te Moana and the sea creatures inside of the Moana.

This is my Acrostic poem, it’s about a Turtle!

I created this by researching  facts about a Turtle. I had to make sure that each fact started with the letters in the word, Turtle.

I am proud of my poem because I think the word Turtle stand out.

Something I found quite challenging was finding out facts for T-U-R-T-L-E.

Next time I will try to find out more facts about Turtles because they seem interesting.

My tips about this poem is to concentrate and to not muck around.

Four season tree painting

We have been learning how to paint art for our four seasons tree calendar art.

This is my art about the four seasons of the year-Winter, Autumn, Summer, and Spring.

I created my art by using the four different colours of the seasons, and learning how to use pointillism.

I am not proud of my mahi because I kept trying to quit, and because sometimes it got hard to do, but I stuck at it and finished it.

Something I found quite challenging was drawing the tree from the TV.

Next time I will try to paint in the lines of the tree instead of trying to rush.

My tips about my work is to be patient with the colouring otherwise if you rush it won’t look as good.

Maths

We are learning about short division, Divided, Divisor, Quotient and Remainder.

This is my slide of my maths about short division and of my working out.

I created this by using Division and multiplication.

I am proud of my slide because I felt confident while I was doing my work.

Something I found quite challenging was working some of the problems out because some of them were not easy.

Next time I will have a piece of paper next  to me in case I get stuck.

My tips for this mahi is to try not to rush while you are doing the answers, you might get it wrong.

Maths

We have been learning about adding coins and notes to make total amounts.

This is my maths about money and adding.

I added notes and coins together to find the total amount, then I had to write the amount at the bottom of each jar.

I am proud of my maths because I got to figure out how to add notes and coin amounts together.

Something I found quite challenging was counting how much money was in the jar because I mucked up once but then I changed it.

Next time I will try to count each coin and note properly.

My tip for this work is to work problems out in your maths book before you complete your work in your booklet.

Pōhutakawa star

We have been learning about the stars Pōhutakawa and Hiwa-i-te-rangi for Puanga.

This is my slide about the Pohutakawa star but we had to relate what the star mean to someone that has passed or your goals in the future (Hiwa-i-te-rangi).

I created this by using my memories with my Koko.

I am proud of my slide because I got to write something about my Koko at school.

Something I found quite challenging was going up to Mitimiti up north and realising that he wasn’t there at the Marae.

Next time I might try to think about more memories for my Pohutakawa slide.

My tip for my mahi is to remember what the star Pōhutakawa means.

Maths week 6

I have been learning about how to add three- digit numbers using different strategies.

This is my mahi about learning how to add three-digit numbers while using different strategies.

I created this by using place value, rounding and compensating, vertical addition and number line.

I am proud of my work because now I know how to add using a number line.

Something I found quite difficult was figuring out how to add using a number line.

Next time I will ask for more help to understand adding using a number line, otherwise I will not learn anything.

My tips about my maths is to get a piece of paper and a pencil so you can figure out the answer.

How Waitara got its name

We are learning about the story about the Tupuna and the Purakau.

This is Madisyn and my work about the Tupuna.

I created this by using Canva and using the advise that our teacher gave us.

I am proud of my work because we found the right research.

Something I found quite challenging was cropping out the whiteness on the pictures because we had heaps of slides to do.

Next time we might try to figure out the words from google so we know what it means

My tips about my work is to pronounce  the words right.

Matariki

We have been learning about Matariki.

This is my work about the Matariki star cluster.

I created this using Google slides and having the knowledge from the reading that I did about Matariki. I answered questions as well.

I am proud of my work because I finished in time.

Something I found quite challenging was doing the answers because some of them were on the paper copy that I read, so they were the same and it confused me for a minute.

Next time I might try to not get confused, I will just ask for help.

My tips about my work is to ask for help when you get confused and maybe learn a little bit more about Matariki.

My screen cast

We have been learning how to screen cast.

This is my screen cast that I videoed myself reading Camp Epic Book 3, the challenge on epic. Epic is a place where you can read all types of books.

I created this by using screen cast and epic and reading the book that I chose.

I am proud of my mahi because I learnt how to put my screen cast on my blog.

Something I found quite challenging was putting my screen cast on my blog because it was hard to do.

Next time I might try to read slower and make sure I’m saying the right words.

My tip about my work is to record it then put it in the Google slide. After you have done all of that you get the qr code and ctrl c copy then add it to your blog.

Multiplication

We have been learning about Multiplying 3-digit numbers.

This is my multiplication sheet that I had to work out to get the right answer.

I am proud of my work because I finished the front side and the back side of the sheet.

Something I found quite challenging was remembering to go from the ones column then work up to the hundreds column.

Next time I might try to answer the questions from the right column then do the next one.

My tips about this is to stay concentrated and try not to talk to your friends while finishing your work.
