Pōhutakawa star

We have been learning about the stars Pōhutakawa and Hiwa-i-te-rangi for Puanga.

This is my slide about the Pohutakawa star but we had to relate what the star mean to someone that has passed or your goals in the future (Hiwa-i-te-rangi).

I created this by using my memories with my Koko.

I am proud of my slide because I got to write something about my Koko at school.

Something I found quite challenging was going up to Mitimiti up north and realising that he wasn’t there at the Marae.

Next time I might try to think about more memories for my Pohutakawa slide.

My tip for my mahi is to remember what the star Pōhutakawa means.

Matariki

We have been learning about Matariki.

This is my work about the Matariki star cluster.

I created this using Google slides and having the knowledge from the reading that I did about Matariki. I answered questions as well.

I am proud of my work because I finished in time.

Something I found quite challenging was doing the answers because some of them were on the paper copy that I read, so they were the same and it confused me for a minute.

Next time I might try to not get confused, I will just ask for help.

My tips about my work is to ask for help when you get confused and maybe learn a little bit more about Matariki.

Anzac work

We have been learning about Anzac day.

This is my Anzac mahi.

I created this by reading the fact cards and answering the questions on my Anzac day paper sheet and then I coloured in the puzzle pieces with coloured pencils.

I am proud of my mahi because I had to look around the class room for the answers on the cards then write it down on my Anzac paper sheet. If you are wondering what ANZAC stands for, it stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corps.

Something I found quite challenging was trying to fit all of my writing on to the small lines in the puzzle pieces and trying to look for the right cards.

Next time I might try to write smaller and tidier.

My tips about this work is to keep it clean and try not to muck up the writing.

Tui bird

We have been learning about the Tui bird because that is what our class is named after.

This is my Tui made out of paper that I coloured in and then cut out.

I created this by using paper, scissors, colouring in pencils and a gluestick.

I am proud of my Tui because it looks good.

Something I found quite challenging was cutting it out and trying not to colour in the places I didn’t want to.

Next time I might try to cut probably and not cut on the tail.

My tips about my mahi is to cut out good and just colour properly.
